Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM), a UAE government land registry entity and Indian IT firm Tech Mahindra announced a partnership to launch a blockchain solution for land registry using SmartHub Application.
The partnership aims to enhance the citizens of Abu Dhabi by allowing transparency and traceability of records, security and the easy archival of data.
Land Registry Solution in Abu Dhabi
The partnership ensures that it will cut down the time in processing land registry transactions while enabling the digital transformation of land registry by creating value. It will benefit citizens, developers and banks related to municipalities.
The CIO of Abu Dhabi Municipality, Ahmad Abdolsamad AlHammadi, added:
“The government and private sectors in Abu Dhabi are working together to achieve the digital transformation agenda led by the government.”
The partnership will enable in embracing new-age technologies while delivering enhanced citizen experiences to Abu Dhabi with the introduction of technologies like SmartHub and Blockchain digital services for the wider segments of citizens.
Blockchain in Land Registry for Transparency
The blockchain land registry work by storing all property-related documents issued by the municipalities on blockchain. It will then get tracked through the blockchain nodes extending to multiple entities for transparency.
The app will ensure in using blockchain technology to offer services such as tenancy contracts and buying resale property.
Tech Mahindra’s general manager and head of the Middle East and Africa, Ram Ramachandran, explained:
