India’s Defence Minister Acclaims Blockchain, AI role in Defence Operations

The defence minister of India believes blockchain, AI and big data will form a big part in the future of warfare.

On Nov. 4 Times of India reported that India’s defence minister, Rajnath Singh highlighted the potential of blockchain technology along with big data and AI in defence operations.

The comment was made amid a range of delegates from 80 countries in Delhi. He added:

 “The role of AI, big data and blockchain technologies has already revolutionized the existing paradigm of warfighting. The defence industry is undergoing a churning to cope and employ these technologies, in order to safeguard the safety and security of critical infrastructure.”

India will hold its annual defense conference, DefExpo 2020, in February.

Blockchain But Regulated Cryptos

The Indian Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman talked recently on cryptocurrency and stablecoins when asked on Facebook’s Libra at an IMF and World Bank meet. She said countries will have to show extreme caution much before anything is said or moved on this.

The chairman of State Bank of IndiaRajnish Kumar reportedly spoke in the favor of crypto regulation in India. The remark was made amidst the Indian government’s bill to ban all cryptocurrencies except the state-issued ones. SBI is a Fortune 500 company, and a government-owned corporation is one of the largest banks in India.

Recently, an Indian state is confirmed to have been working on a state-level policy for blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
