Greta Thunberg at COP25

On Dec. 18 Sun tweeted, in response to late week’s COP25 UN climate conference in Madrid.

As a young entrepreneur, I share @GretaThunberg’s passion to change the world. Crypto will contribute immensely on reducing carbon footprint by implementing decentralized settlement. I would like to personally commit USD$1 Mil to @GretaThunberg ’s initiative. #cop25 — Justin Sun (@justinsuntron) December 18, 2019

COP25 UN Climate Change Conference

The recent COP25 UN climate conference in Madrid has set the record as the longest-ever multilateral climate negotiations. It raised key issues such as setting rules for a new global carbon trading market while adopting new and more ambitious emissions reduction targets.

However, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres mentioned apprehension with the results of COP25:

I am disappointed with the results of #COP25. The international community lost an important opportunity to show increased ambition on mitigation, adaptation & finance to tackle the climate crisis. But we must not give up, and I will not give up. — António Guterres (@antonioguterres) December 15, 2019

Crypto Twitter Skeptic

Crypto Twitter was marked with contradictions regarding Justin Sun’s support towards Greta Thunberg.

Some have mentioned that the climate change activist doesn’t deserve a mention in the crypto world.

I don’t think that spoilt brat @GretaThunberg will approve of #bitcoin mining or anything related to cryptos. — Jason du Preez (@Red93Jason) December 18, 2019

Justin, don't be ridiculous. Gretta is a great pathos. You don't need to mention Greta in your aspirations. Your business is much more serious, and Gretta doesn't deserve a mention in the crypto world. — Timur (@tvilin80) December 18, 2019

While others are just skeptics towards Greta and her causes:

Bro get educated about what the New World Order is and get real. She's a puppet used for that purpose. Read some bible too. It'll get you some knowledge as to what's gonna happen to people without the mark of the beast. Aka the chip in the right hand that has the finances in it. — Jandre (@Jandre98201553) December 18, 2019

Im from Sweden shes a left fake sponsored by Soros, dont do it. Shes like Bitconnect. Wants to make people feel shame over fake climate change. — ToppeTrx (@MagnusSderkvist) December 18, 2019

However, others have dismissed Justin Sun’s move as getting in on the monetization of compulsory carbon credits or a ploy to pump-out the Tron token.

This homie just trying to get some aspie poon or get in on the monetization of compulsory carbon credits that these grifters will start pushing. Either way, good plan. — Chuck Waynard (@CWaynard) December 18, 2019
