La Liga Partners With Dapper Labs To Allow Fans Purchase Video NFTs

La Liga, Spain’s premier soccer league, has partnered with Dapper Labs to build a platform set to become the “NBA Top Shot” of soccer. The new platform – named La Liga Golazos – will allow fans to purchase video nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

It has been reported that the NFTs aim to bring Spanish soccer fans closer to their favourite team. The launch date for this highly-anticipated platform is October 27, and fans can participate by joining a closed beta waitlist.

However, the video NFTs – called “Moments” – will feature the most iconic plays of all Spanish clubs and will be available in both Spanish and English. “Moments” will capture goals, saves, assists, and dribbles that changed the world of soccer.

Óscar Mayo, the Executive Director at La Liga, said:

“La Liga is steeped in history, tradition, and legendary moments and our fans are some of the most passionate in the world and we are excited to offer a new way for them to experience the moments they love.”

The report said that La Liga Golazos is built on Dapper Labs’ Flow blockchain. This blockchain is quickly becoming the go-to for sports organizations. LaLiga Golazos is in good company, as Dapper Labs’ Flow is home to NBA Top Shot and NFL ALL DAY.

Likewise, La Liga, also known as Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División, is the men’s top-division soccer league in Spain. La Liga is popular among Spanish and international soccer fans due to Spain’s success in the international leagues. Furthermore, it is the sixth richest professional sports league and one of the Big Five European leagues.

Thus, La Liga has its eye firmly on the metaverse. It has just announced a partnership with Globant to build Web3 products. It has licensed its IP for use in Decentraland. This latest partnership with Dapper Labs solidifies its position as a future-driven league.
