Report: Microsoft Does Not Have Any Short-Term Plans To Put Bitcoin On Its Balance Sheet

Brad Smith, the President of Microsoft, said that Microsoft does not apparently have any short-term plans to put Bitcoin (BTC) on its balance sheet.

It has been reported that Smith, in an interview with CNN’s Julia Chatterley, still hinted that Microsoft could still change its mind about a Bitcoin investment.

The $BTC balance sheet! I'm asking every Pres & CEO on @firstmove what they are thinking re digital asset/cash diversification. It's a no from @Microsoft but if anything changes @BradSmi promises you'll hear it here first!! 😉 pic.twitter.com/uK3Zh11M5c — Julia Chatterley (@jchatterleyCNN) February 16, 2021

However, when asked whether Microsoft is discussing any cryptocurrency diversification plans after Tesla’s $1.5 billion investment in Bitcoin, Smith said that he is not aware of such discussions.

He added:

“I haven’t heard any new conversation about Bitcoin. But let me just say, if we change our investment policy on Bitcoin, Julia, you will be the first or at least the second to know.”

The report said that Bitcoin’s market capitalization is inching higher to overtake some of the largest American companies.

Expecting other big companies like Tesla to jump into Bitcoin? We'll have to count out Microsoft for now, as its president has no immediate plans to do so. https://t.co/CjJh6j6hvM — Cointelegraph (@Cointelegraph) February 18, 2021

Thus, the Bitcoin market cap surpassed Tesla’s at around $808 billion shortly after the company announced its massive Bitcoin investment.
