Storj Initiates Free COVID-19 Storage Program

Storj, the decentralized storage network, has launched a program providing free storage to organizations researching COVID-19, as the program follows widespread contributions from the crypto community toward Folding@Home (F@H), the distributed scientific research platform.

On April 22, Ben Golub, Executive Chairman and Interim CEO at Storj Labs announced that Tardigrade COVID-19 Storage Program will offer free data storage to organizations engaged in research contributing to the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, if you or your organization are working to fight the global pandemic, Storj will provide you with 1TB of free cloud storage and bandwidth per month on the data storage program for one year.

Storj has also committed to providing 5 PB of data and storage toward COVID-19 research, and they are also open to considering requests beyond the 1TB offer.

Likewise, Storj comprises an open-source, decentralized file storage solution, which uses encryption, file sharding, and blockchain to store data on a peer-to-peer network.

Additionally, by providing financial and material donations, the crypto community has rallied to provide support to the fight against COVID-19 by donating computational resources to Folding@Home.

As per the report, F@H was created by a global consortium of scientific research labs to sort computer power towards medical research.

Thus, in response to COVID-19, F@H has launched a project to run simulations of the virus’ molecular structure to inform the development of potential treatments.

Storj Labs will continue to offer the Tardigrade COVID-19 Storage Program until the impact of the pandemic subsides.
