Report said that Twitter suspended a number of major cryptocurrency-related accounts, which includes some of the industry’s biggest influencers.
It has been reported that Peter McCormack, the Bitcoin (BTC) podcaster, along with six crypto-related accounts have been recently suspended by Twitter.
However, the listed accounts include some of the most prominent crypto figures on Twitter with over 300,000 subscribers like Bitcoin on-chain analyst Willy Woo and BTC stock-to-flow model creator PlanB, as well as crypto advocate TheCryptoDog.
Other industry-related accounts like MMCrypto, TheMoon, Koroush AK, and WSBChairman, who claims that the account is not associated with Reddit’s r/WallStreetBets community, have also been suspended.
Twitter has restored the pages of Plan B and Willy Woo, but several other crypto accounts still remain inaccessible. Should the community be worried? https://t.co/4PM7YhhFIq — Cointelegraph (@Cointelegraph) March 10, 2021
The report said that five of the listed accounts remained inaccessible, while Willy Woo and PlanB’s accounts appear to have been recovered. It has been analyzed that PlanB’s account looks to be fully restored, while Willy Woo has around 600 followers.
Twitter user Ankeborgare noted that some fake PlanB accounts like 100TrillionUSDT and 100TrillionUSDD were not suspended on Twitter as part of the latest series of suspensions.
You know all of these accounts have one thing in common, lots of impersonators. Twitter could have some failure of a new impersonation detection algo and flagged the original accounts or soemthing like that. — Free Market Maximalist (@Marconaut_) March 10, 2021
Thus, on March 8, Twitter Support stated that the platform has been experiencing a “rise in cases” of mistaken account suspensions.
