USAF Partners with Constellation to use Big Data and Blockchain

USAF (the United States Air Force) has signed a contract with the Constellation Network, a San Francisco-based technology and blockchain firm as part of Phase I of the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program to produce rails to a solution that is fully integrated with Air Force constituents.

According to a Constellation press release published on August 27, the startup signed a working contract with the USAF.

The U.S. Air Force explains the scope of the partnership in the following statement :

“Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research process in an attempt to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants and decrease bureaucratic overhead.”

It has been an amazing week for @Conste11ation ! Contract signed with @AF_SBIR_STTR . Global coverage on @PRNewswire and a lot of encouraging support from @coindesk, @Cointelegraph, @blockfolio @tradingview, and the entire community! Blockchain to Handle Multitude of Data

Benjamin Diggles, Vice President of Business Development at Constellation said, “It’s a match at the right time with the right partner.”

Diggles further explained :

“The USAF has a multitude of data sources like drones, planes, and satellites that need to be secured. Clean and consolidated data that can be queried instantly is a big need within the defense apparatus.”

Constellation’s technology is going to allow secure unlock to traditionally siloed and non-accessible data and data sources, commonly referred to as Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) at the U.S. Air Force.

Specifically, Constellation’s blockchain solution is going to incorporate the data generated from the force’s multitude of data sources such as satellites, planes, and drones. Data from different sources are also disconnected, complex and require remarkable manpower to handle forensics, planning, and collection.

Constellation states that it can provide a scalable and decentralized secure data management platform that can be incorporated with both legacy and future data types. The company also claims :

“Constellation provides decentralized security not only to Air Force data pipelines, with encryption, but also creates audit trails and a live overview of the status of any data source.”

The U.S. Air Force partnered with Constellation and SIMBA Chain

It has also been reported that the USAF also partnered with smart contract startup SIMBA Chain to provide the blockchain-based platform which will be used to secure its supply chain.
